Our graduate programs in composition, musicology, ethnomusicology, and music theory have produced leading scholars and award-winning artists.

Orpheus Uncovered

Opera and Musical Theater Workshop & Baroque Opera from Monteverdi to Gluck

Orpheus Uncovered presents the story of Orpheus and Eurydice as narrated in music by composers who wrote operas based on this myth: Claudio Monteverdi, Luigi Rossi, Antonio Sartorio, and Christoph Willibald Gluck (with, respectively, librettists Alessandro Striggio Jr., Francesco Buti, Aurelio Aureli, and Ranieri de' Calzabigi). This Baroque pasticcio is fully staged and sung in Italian.

Join us in celebrating live music and improvisation with an evening of eclectic jazz performances. The talented young musicians of the Penn Jazz Ensembles will perform and improvise on music ranging from 1920's traditional jazz to new music composed and arranged by the student performers.
