Jim Sykes, Associate Professor in Music, wins 2019 Bruno Nettl Award
from the Society of Ethnomusicology for his book The Musical Gift: Sonic Generosity in Post-War Sri Lanka (2018, Oxford University Press). The award aims “to recognize an outstanding publication contributing to or dealing with the history of the field of ethnomusicology, broadly defined, or with the general character, problems, and methods of ethnomusicology.”

Choral Open House, Monday, August 26 at 4:00 PM
Attention all singers! Anyone interested in learning more about the vocal and choral opportunities in the Music Department is invited to a Choral Open House to meet our ensemble directors, find out what kinds of repertoire you will sing, and do a little reading.
