The Penn Symphony Orchestra will be performing works by Primosch, Beethoven and Dvorak.  We open our concert season with a tribute to James Primosch, Penn professor and composer, by performing his work Variations on a Hymn Tune. This music embodies the joy, hope and optimism of the composer's character and personality.  Beethoven's Triple concerto will feature a trio of distinguished soloists: Meiching Huang (Member of the Philadelphia Orchestra), violin; Ruby Lee ('22), piano and Evan Jiang ('21), cello.  The evening ends with Dvorak's most famous New World symphony.

The University of Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1878 and is comprised of musicians from throughout the University community, primarily non-music majors. The ensemble rehearses for four hours each week and performs a diverse range of repertoire drawn from the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth Centuries. More information.
