Event
This workshop will meet weekly for three weeks in February 2014 to discuss the subject of violence in relation to aesthetics of sound. Drawing on theories articulated by Fanon, Arendt, Das, and Zizek, among others, we will orient our discussions around historical and contemporary case studies (sub-saharan Africa, Balkans, Europe, Middle East, South Asia, and the United States) to better understand how the aesthetics of sound is implicated in the meanings and workings of violence.
Dr. Silverstein will present a series of three workshops every Thursday from February 6 - 20th (dates: Feb. 6, 13, and 20)
Free, with registration required. Space is limited.
