Event

U. Mali is a master player of mridangam (South Indian double-headed drum) and expert in konnakol, the sophisticated rhythmic concepts elaborated in South Indian classical music and now becoming part of musicians' training in jazz and other traditions. The rhythmic concepts will be taught orally in this workshop-- no need for instruments. All are welcome!

The rhythm workshop taught by U. Mali is funded by Penn’s South Asia Center in partnership with the Department of Music and South Asian Studies.
