Title: Trisha Brown’s Orfeo meets William Kentridge’s Ritorno d'UlisseGuillaume Bernardi--an opera and theater director, dramaturg and professor of Drama Studies based in Toronto--will talk about the construction of characters in two highly influential and experimental stagings of Claudio Monteverdi’s operas. He collaborated with American choreographer Trisha Brown in her production of L’Orfeo conducted by René Jacobs (available in DVD). The other work discussed in the talk, William Kentridge’s version of The Return of Ulysses with the Handspring Puppet Company, will be performed at Lincoln Center in New York City for the White Light Festival during the same week (Nov. 14-16).
