Missy Mazzoli is a rising star among the American composers of her generation. From 2012 to 2015 she was composer-in-residence at Opera Philadelphia, which on September 22 will present the world premiere of her opera Breaking the Waves on a libretto by Royce Vavrek, based on the 1996 Academy Award-nominated film by Lars von Trier. The colloquium will be moderated by Penn's graduate student in Composition Marc Le May.
