The Daedalus Quartet, a premier string quartet in residence at the University of Pennsylvania since 2006, has generously offered to be part of an open rehearsal with the express purpose of helping others understand the group dynamics that inform their practice and performance.This evening will give us a window into the verbal and nonverbal group dynamics that influence the quartet’s life and the music that they make together. Penn Music Ensemble in Residence Daedalus performs within the Public Trust, a non-profit organization on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania that fosters learning, creativity, and collaboration. The concert will explore themes of grief and despair, as experienced both privately and publicly, and will feature string quartet works by Béla Bártok, George Walker, and Anna Weesner.
