Philadelphia Orchestra associate concertmaster Juliette Kang along with Penn Chamber director Thomas Kraines joins the PSO this evening for a magical rendition of Brahms' concerto for violin and cello. The wondrous evening continues with Hector Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, showcasing the many virtuosic sections of the orchestra. Indeed, this work represents a new path of orchestral wizardry that has become the identity of the modern day orchestra. Lots of notes, colors, rich harmonies and wild images being conjured up in this "fantasy" musical work from the French composer. We hope to enjoy this night of music with you! The University of Pennsylvania Wind Ensemble will present its fall 2024 concert – Wind Ensemble in Disguise. The performance will feature pieces by Bach, Silvestri, Tchaikovsky, and Vaughan Williams – music originally written for orchestra, voice, and organ arranged or transcribed for wind band. The wind ensemble is also excited to include Penn Chorale in the concert as the groups join forces to perform Eric Whitacre’s Sleep and John Rutter’s Look to the Day.
