The Department of Music is pleased to present the Brazilian Samba Ensemble under the direction of Michael Stevens.

Program

Repertoire will be in the style of the Blocos of Rio de Janeiro, which play both traditional Brazilian Samba rhythms as well as other rhythms from Brasil (and beyond) on the traditional Samba drums.

This event is free and open to the public.

ABOUT

Penn's Brazilian Ensemble ("Penn Samba") is an introduction to the infectious rhythms of Brazilian Carnaval. Students were learn multiple parts on a variety of Samba drums, and will work as a team to create the joyful noise of Samba. The ensemble performs a wide variety of rhythms from many different regions of Brazil.
