Planetary Return: Collaborative Mission with MUSICA PRACTICA / ELETTRONICA VIVA with King Britt, composer Tyshawn Sorey, and scholar Jasmine Henry

Bringing Philadelphia back into the light as a place of exploration, Planetary Return explores the many innovative genres of electronic music that are rooted in and created from Black culture. The project’s mission and planned programs include presenting a concert performance by King Britt and Tyshawn Sorey, a conversation with Jasmine Henry, a club night, and a beat-making workshop.

Hearing Women's Voices: Daedalus Quartet

Hearing Women’s Voices is an exploration of string quartets written by women in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The list of works includes string quartets by Amy Beach, Germaine Tailleferre, and Marion Bauer, among others. The aim is to bring these relatively unknown works to audiences through performances at Penn and elsewhere, and through the creation of benchmark recordings, increase the likelihood that they are performed more frequently in the future.
