Vincent Kelley performed at the India Habitat Centre, Stein Auditorium on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 as a part of an International Indo-Jazz Concert. The concert featured Vincent performing on drums alongside special guest artist, saxophonist Dr. Damani Phillips, Professor of Jazz and African-American Studies at the University of Iowa. Vincent's tabla teacher, Dr. Rishitosh Kumar, organized the performance. Dr. Kumar's organization, Naad Aura, hosted the event and also honored Vincent with its Naad Shree award for artistic excellence as a part of the program. Other musicians from India and Japan joined in this performance of contemporary jazz blended with Hindustani music.
The concert was part of a research trip funded by the Music Department through a summer research award.
