NEW INTERIM SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA DIRECTOR ANNOUNCED

We are pleased to announce that Thomas Hong has agreed to join us as our one-year Interim Director of the University of Pennsylvania Orchestra. Thomas holds conducting degrees from Rice University (M.Mus. in instrumental conducting), The Curtis Institute of Music (Artist Diploma in orchestral conducting), and Temple University (M.Mus. in choral conducting).

Thomas comes to us as an Associate Conductor and Professor of Music at the Rice University Shepherd School. He is also the Director of
the Mansfield, OH Symphony Orchestra, and was formerly the Associate Conductor of the Dallas and Seattle Symphony Orchestras, Assistant Conductor at the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and guest conductor for many orchestras including the Seoul Philharmonic (Korea), the Winnipeg Symphony (Canada) and the Lutoslawski Philharmonic (Poland).  Thomas was also a visiting Assistant Professor of Music for three years at Haverford College. He currently resides in Philadelphia.
