On September 26, 2015 a concert of music by Penn faculty George Crumb (emeritus), James Primosch and Jay Reise was performed in Myaskovsky Hall in the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory as part of the International Conference "Voice and the Literary Imagination." The conference was presented by the Conservatory and the Moscow State University.

The Voice of the Whale (1971)
James Primosch: Holy the Firm (1999) on texts by Denise Levertov, Annie Dillard, Susan Stewart, and the 7th-century John Climacus
Jay Reise: Satori song cycle (1994) on a poem by Damien Kongressi
The Penn Music Department and Moscow Conservatory have enjoyed a fruitful interchange of concerts and lectures since 1994.
On October 20, 2015 at 5 PM, Moscow University Deputy Rector and musicologist Konstantin Zenkin will present a lecture in the Penn Music Department,
"The Problem of Nationalism in 19th and 20th Century Russian and European Music".
