Ph.D. candidate Maria Ryan publishes essay on “Written on Skin”

Third-year graduate student in musicology Maria Ryan has just published an article in the miscellaneous collection “Recomposing the Past: Representations of Early Music on Stage and Screen(link is external),” edited by James Cook, Alexander Kolassa, and Adam Whittaker, for the London publisher Routledge. The essay is entitled “Angels in the Archive: Animating the Past in Written on Skin,” and is devoted to George Benjamin and Martin Crimp’s 2012 opera based on the life of troubadour Guillem de Cabestenh.
