Penn Jazz Ensembles: Part One

November 19, 2021 (Friday) – 7:00 PM

Rose Recital Hall
Fisher-Bennett Hall, Room 419
3340 Walnut Street
Philadelphia PA, 19104

Join us in celebrating live music and improvisation with an evening of eclectic jazz performances. The talented young musicians of the Penn Jazz Ensembles will perform and improvise on music ranging from classic George Gershwin and Hoagy Carmichael songs to new music from Julian Lage and Cecile McLorin Salvant. Each set - one at 7pm, another at 8:30pm - will feature different groups and repertoire.

ABOUT

The Penn Jazz Ensembles consists of small (3-6 member) jazz ensembles which meet weekly for rehearsals coached by professional Philadelphia-based jazz musicians. Repertoire is extremely varied and includes early jazz, 1950's-era straight ahead jazz, Cuban jazz, vocal jazz, jazz arrangements of current popular music, and other styles. Instrumental performance and improvisation are emphasized but vocalists are welcomed.

LIVE STREAM

***Unfortunately, due to technical issues, we will no longer be live streaming tonight's concert. We will release a recording of the performances on our YouTube channel within the next week or two.
