ABOUT
In our hands…
A series of three, oversized seed-shaped sculptures transmitting an assemblage of sounds gathered during the Into the Ground and Up Into the Sky workshop hosted by the Sound Museum Collective: will circulate around the meadow. In the workshop, local forest sounds and signals were recorded and processed using a range of environmental sensors to capture soil, wind, humidity, and temperature conditions. These sounds will be wirelessly transmitted to the seed sculptures. Audience members will be invited to hold these seed forms and share them with others in a hand to hand network of participants. Created in collaboration with Noah Murphy-Reinhertz, each seed form is crafted from found materials in the Arboretum by Futurefarmers and Don Miller to evoke the potentiality of the forest.
INTRA-GALACTIC FOREST
This workshop is part of the Intra- Galactic Forest program series happening in tandem with S(tree)work, a multi-year, public art project rooted in Philadelphia whose aim is to animate how we live among trees, curated by Marina McDougall.
