Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia Executive Director Bill Rhoads will present his perspectives and reflections on his 25-year career as a composer and music industry professional, and will lead an interactive workshop on developing an effective marketing and communications plan for artists, events, and ensembles.

A twenty-five year veteran in the classical music industry, Bill is currently Executive Director for The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and Managing Director for the Steven R. Gerber Trust.  He has enjoyed a many-faceted career as a publishing, production, recording, programming, and marketing executive. During his tenure as Director of Concert Music at Carl Fischer the company underwent a vibrant transformation, focusing the house on effective capitalization of its publishing catalog, lauded industry-wide for the innovative representation and promotion of its roster and for acquiring some of the most important composers of their generation. With his own marketing, production, and publishing company, Bill Rhoads & Associates, he represented diverse interests of a broad roster of clients, including Frank Zappa, John Zorn, Ornette Coleman, Ethel, C.F. Peters Publishing, and Arabesque Recordings.  His time at Orchestra of St. Luke’s marked a period of unparalleled expansion for the institution, during which he played a key role in establishing and maintaining several strategic partnerships and collaborations, in the opening of The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, and in the launch of several new programs and series, including Youth Orchestra of St. Luke’s (YOSL), 45below young member program, St. Luke’s Subway Series, the Notable Women Festival, and the OSL@DMC series.  In addition to his work at Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Bill Rhoads & Associates, and Carl Fischer, Bill has been active throughout his career as a board member, guest speaker/lecturer, composer, advisor, programming consultant, funder and advocate for the performing arts.
