The Department of Music at Penn takes full advantage of the many and varied resources available throughout the University and the wider Philadelphia area in order to provide a rich and multifaceted environment within which to pursue research and craft. Foremost among these resources is the new music building, which provides new classrooms, offices, a state-of-the-art computer lab, and a well-equipped electronic studio. The Otto E. Albrecht Music Library holds over 103,000 volumes of books, music, periodicals, and a large collection of microforms. At the core of the collection are musical scores in both scholarly and performing editions, literature on music history and theory, and microforms of primary sources.
